Fight Club is the most important movie ever made. I watched it last nite for like the dozenth time. The movie has so many levels of understanding that it makes The Matrix seem like an ordinary movie. Why am I so much in love with the movie? Let me explain…
The first time you watch the movie its all about the ending… The twist in the ending is brilliant and that by itself is worth all the effort of watching but thats not all the movie offers…
If you hv not watched the movie stop here(semi-spoilers follow), Reading the below will not hamper your enjoyment of the film but its better u watch it first :). If you hv watched it and are thinking ‘wonder what is the big deal about’ please read on this is exactly for you…
I guess there is a Tyler Durden in each one of us, enslaved by us to hold back our deepest feelings of freedom and excitement. Tyler once said “Things that we own end up owning us” If you ever stopped and run to cover from the rain only because you were worried about your mobile getting wet, when you actually wanted to stand and enjoy the rain…. you might just know what that line meant.
The movie is all about what Tyler says and the simple fact that it applies to each and every one of us… Here are a few quotes
This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time.
If I could wake up in a different place, at a different time, could I wake up as a different person?
First you have to give up, first you have to *know*… not fear… *know*… that someday you’re gonna die.
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t.
Its not until you lose everything that you are free to do anything
You’re not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis. You’re the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You’re the same decaying organic matter as everything else.
Every conversation in the movie exists coz it has a message hidden in it somewhere… This movie is spiritual and enlightening… you just hv to keep your ears and your mind open for it :)
And about the Subject of this post… If you hv watched the movie you will understand :)
