Theft – A Play

I had the pleasure of catching Eric Chappel’s play Theft yesterday at Rangashankara. The play is a laugh riot and if there is one play to watch this one is pretty much it. I hv seen 3 plays in the last 8 days and this one I enjoyed more than the other two.

Top Cast professionalism on the stage was shown by the echoing laughter in the audience. The play is over 2 hrs long and at the end you just dont want it to stop…

The play is about a couple who return from their anniversary party with a couple of old friends to realize that their home has been burgled. The catch is that the thief is still in the house and hiding without their knowledge. The play swirls slowly into the lives of the four characters each reveled by conversations with the thief(who gets caught). The thief is amazingly good at talking his way out of situations and lives up to his name of “Greasy” Spriggs.

Had been to Wonder la with a bunch of pals yesterday… One hell of a place, total fun fiesta from the start to the end. The rides were amazing and the waterpark totally cool… An even more intresting thing happened later in the day when we had gone to the temple…

The temple thing is short so will talk about that first… So there I was with mom and dad standing in the queue to get the darshan. The queue was long… i mean almost half a km and with a speed of a few cm/min it would hv taken us eazily 4 hrs to get there.

Hamlet

Had been yesterday to Rangashankara to catch the play “Hamlet” with my collegues from Applibase. The play was the first play I hv been to in almost a decade and it was worth all the running around :P.

The Indianized version of the play had (hold ur breath) Duality(2 ppl playing almost every char), Dialouges in English(classical lines by Shakespeare), Hindi, Tulu and Kannada. 3 forms of Dramatics(Dhrupad, Yakshagana and Theatre), 2 ppl playing Hamlet(one being a really beautiful girl :P ) and some hilarious sequences.

Fortunately Preethi had given us all a link to a summary of Hamlet, so we were not taken back by this flavour of it. If you hv not read it, please do before you go to the play its worth the effort.
