Mixed Doubles – A Review

Rating: **1/2
(Lowest: * Highest: *****)

Relationships are again put under the microscope and this time in a Rajat Kapoor film called “Mixed Doubles”. The movie talks about a couple who hv been married for 10 yrs… who are introduced to the world of Wife swapping and Open relationships…

Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen Sharma play the couple who have been married for over 10 years with a school going son… Almost all is well in paradise except that nothing has been recently happening in bed. The guy is worried that his wife is assuming that he is going impotent and She thinks she is no longer attractive to her man…

To add to the spice of all the confusion in comes a American friend who in a friendly conversation says that the reason for him being all healthy and cool is Swinging and Wife Swaping… and all hell breaks loose. The guy is now determined to give it a try and tries his best to convince his wife.

The sex comedy is hillarious to the extent of tears. Some situations are really well shot and hv beautifully been executed. The movie is smooth and does not drag at anytime.

But thats were all the good news ends… the second half has a few laughs but the ending is the killer. Imagine watching ‘Indecent Proposal’ and the movie ending right after the proposal was accepted and satisfied. Thats how this movie ends…

Frankly its hard to understand the moral of the story. The story does not portray the act(Wife swaping) in either light(good or bad)… Here is a glimpse into the lives of ppl that do it but as it seems they look very happy… and the movie ends like a door slamming at ur face all of a sudden.

Acting wise this movie is pretty decent… The main 2 chars are really good and do a decent job. The rest of the ensemble is good and dont leave us dissatisfied. The editing though required a second look, parts of the movie(placement of objects) looked clearly wrong and needed to be corrected

My Verdict: Nice movie… Watch it but if you hv something better to do during the second half feel free to walk out… :)
