Ace in the Pack…

Last week I bought the Samsung Galaxy Ace. The touch screen phone comes in a nice package that weighs a total of about 113g and runs Android Froyo(2.2.1).

I had decided to switch to Android a few weeks back and had been looking out for phone that had a good balance between features and price. The Ace came close to the best with that regard.

Primarily this phone was intended to replace three of the devices that I have used a lot in the last two years.

  • Phone(with web access)
  • iPod Touch (for apps not just the music)
  • GPS Navigator (for mostly geotagging photos)

The Ace with its Android OS and Gps fit perfectly into the requirements. Having been used to the awesome screen on the iPod Touch, I was very particular about screen resolution and UI behaviour; In both cases the Ace has quite impressive.

In the past few days that I have spent trying out apps and customizing the phone, I have to say I have been very impressed with the phone and how far the Android has come. I remember originally trying out Android and finding it far inferior to the iOS atleast with my requirements. I do at times miss the integrability between apps of the iPod touch but Android so far has been a great experience.
