Recently I have been bogged down with everyone saying “(s)he has changed so much”. They were mostly refering to my friends after college. The statement directed definatily towards how “Busy” my pals have gotten.
Frankly I do feel the change but its just stupidity if you expected it never to happen.
In a conversation a few days back with a friend we happen to bring this topic up. She kept saying that she did not expect him(the person were were talking about) to change so much. My response was simple “People change… Period”.
This my understanding of “change”:
Everybody changes everyday. It can be anything that brings about the change. They might have learnt something new, experienced new things, made decisions… anything. The change can vary from something so small that it would probabaly be insignificant(these are the ones that goes unnoticed) or a lifechanging one that may effect your character/personality directly.
If you assume that somebody will never change its plain foolishness. Death or sickness of a near and dear person can cause change that is very noticable. I remember my friend said once said something of the order of “Change in inherent in human nature”. I truly believe in that statement. Its one of those involuntary things that just happen.
I am not blindsighted of changes in my friends but I prefer not to complain… the fact remains, they probably changed coz they had no choice in the matter. I accept them the way they are and just coz we dont have that many conversations anymore doesnt mean they are not my friends anymore.
Anyway, if someone brings up the same sentence again in a conversation… my answer is well prepared “People change” :)
