Inspired by my last post. I decided to name the my 5 most favourite hindi movies to date….
5) Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge :
Come fall in love… after 10 years it still is possibly the most celebrated movie of all time. The simple story of a easy going boy meeting a girl who is set to be married. The magic lies sequences and in the beauty of the landscapes of Europe. The clever dialouges and the melodious songs fit perfectly to make this a movie to remember.
4) Asoka :
Story of Ashoka the Great. One of the most critically acclaimed movies of all time and why not it was made almost flawlessly. It was the first attempt in a long time to tell a period story and it came out beautifully.
3) Zakham, Dil Chaatha hai :
I have 2 movies in 3rd place and if you have watched them both they you will definately agree with me. Zakham was my all time favourite untill I watched the movies in no. 2 and no. 1. The Mahesh Bhatt movie is about the story of a young man played by Ajay Devagan(sorry dont remember the names). His mother is in her death bed and from there a flashback to their life. The end of the movie is spectacular when his brother and he fight over her dead body and how to cremate it. The movie caputres the ugliness of Religion and the pain of the life of a single mother.
Made form the heart, Dil Chaatha hai is a classic. The story of 3 friends and their lives. The movie is many movies packed in one and makes you look back at your life and your friends. There is nothing I can say about this movie that can capture the beauty of it.
2) Teen Deewarein :
This Nagesh Kukunoor movie is the story of 3 convicts in Death Row. One convinced he has not commited the crime, the other convinced he has commited it and the third only convinced in this ability to escape the prison. The plot involves a journalist who is there to make a story on the 3. As the story is told you slowly realize that there is much more than what meets the eye and the beauty of the screenplay splashes all over the screen. The movie is a very mature and honest and I admire that thing in it. In the end we get an awesome twist that only leaves you wanting more.
1) Black :
Hands down the most spectacular movie ever made. It tells the story of a deaf, dumb and blind girl and her struggles in life. The movie is unparallel and the acting is spectacular. I could only compare it to “I am Sam” in quality of acting and proabaly better in direction.
