Krishna was born in a Jail cell to Devaki. Knowing her evil brother was intent on killing her baby, she had to part with him. Yashoda raised Krishna as son unaware of the fact that her child was swapped with him.
Krishna grew up and eventually slayed his evil uncle. He realized the truth about his birth and was asked “Who is your real mother? The one that gave birth to you or the one that raised you?” Krishna replied “Both are my mothers but the mother that raised the child is far more important than the one that gave birth to the child.”
This story has a very important significance in my recent past. A significance that humbles me and gives me closure.
Ps: Mythological facts in the story were told to me at some point. I tried finding textual proof of it but after reading a lot of chapters from Shrimad Bhagwatha I gave up. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
