A few years ago, in conversation with a Playwright, I asked him how he had went about writing a specific play. The play in question had left me in absolute awe and I had been dying to ask him how he wrote it ever since I watched it.
He paused for a moment to think about the question and without finding a better answer, he simply replied, “I wanted to create something beautiful.”
That interaction is one of my most cherished memories of any artist.

I turned a year older last Monday. As you get older birthdays turn into those ringing Alarm clocks that you have hit snooze on a few times. As in the case of the clocks, you suddenly realize that you have been sleeping longer and are seriously short of time for the things you really wanted to do…
“…And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gunAnd you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you’re older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death…”~Pink Floyd (Time)
All those thoughts bring me to my new project… I realized during the quiet pondering about the life, universe and everything that one of the best years of my life was the year I did the Project 365. Taking a photo everyday added so much life into each day of that year.
So starting July 1st, for a year, I will be doing my Beautiful project. The project is to create one beautiful thing everyday of the year.
I know ‘creating‘ has a pretty strong meaning(in an artistic sense) but for the sake of this project I will go with the definition of ‘to bring forward something to the world‘. Also, I know beauty is subjective… so I will stick to “what I find beautiful“.
This project will involve photos, videos, quotes, thoughts… anything I find beautiful and worthy of being shared on the blog(or with the world).
Its going to be a crazy year ahead… but it promises to be beautiful too :P See you along the way :)
