Of Mutants, Jail Birds and Survivors…

Just finished watching all episodes of Heroes… The show is clearly one of the best on TV right now… Considering I have watched all episodes of Lost and Prison Break, I think its the best time to compare the 3 best shows on Tv…

#3 Prison Break:

prison-break

We are almost at the end of Season 2 of the show and looks like the writers are calling it a day. The last few episodes are hinting heavily at the finale at the end of the season. Frankly I think its a right way to go… The first season of Prison Break was amazing… it had the right balance of everything required and was very well paced.

Unfortunately for Prison Break and Heroes, they were created after Lost… What that means is every fan of Lost will compare the shows with it, for me both come up short. They will look at story telling styles and go ‘that was copied from Lost’… I too have done that so many times, I know its a bit unfair but who knows where the idea came to the writers from… I think the second season was a lot of over kill, the characters who were not getting much audience reaction were just killed off and thier stories just cut. All in all I think this should have been a simple mini series and that would have sat well…

#2 Heroes:

Heroes

Heroes is simply brilliant… Complex storylines told in a very simple way. The characters are well spaced out and I feel that is what goes well with the show. I was a bit upset when few of the episodes were dedicated totally to a specific story, considering that the other episodes dont follow this pattern can get irritating… Other than that everything is great about the show.

The cast is prefect and stories keep swinging from unbelievable to ridiculous but what the heck its just a tv show :P

#1 Lost:

lost

The prize must go to Lost… The fact that the writers have maintained a very similar method of story telling for 3 seasons is just brilliant. They never panicked and went “The ratings are dropping… I saw this cool thing on a top show how bout we try something like that…” They were bold enough to keep the originality of the show and that is a total winner.

Season 1 of Lost is still the best single season of a show ever. Season 2 was right up there but things were getting complicated and this is where the good writing kept the perspective. Season 3 has been heavily criticized but anyone who has watched Episode 8 of Season 3 will know how damn good the show is. I guess deep down all Lost fans are a bit pissed that they have to wait weeks at times to get a new episode and we all want to believe that we dont want to know what is actually happening in the island :P

In case you have not watched any of the above shows… Well you are really missing out something :)
