Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds star in this overly typical romantic comedy about finding love in the least expected place. The plot is about a pushy boss that forces her young secretary to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation. In order to convince the government she tags along with him to a family meet.
The movie goes overboard to fit into the frame of a typical romantic comedy. There is the bitchy protagonist that nobody seems to like, who convinces the sweet natured second lead to make a relationship of convenience. They visit the family and she falls in love with the sweet family that seem to be perfect. Then the climax, they both decide to sacrifice for their love and somebody says the line “you both are so in love”(or something to that effect). Then one runs after the other says a couple of really romantic dialogues and voila they are a happy couple.
The best credit of the movie according to me was that it actually kept me interested despite the clichéd story. The acting is average and story photocopied with a few names changed here and there.
This is a typical timepass movie. I wouldnt have regretted skipping it.
