Water Drops

In my mind the idea was clear and all I needed to start off was a plate almost full of water. My mom became my helper and released the drops on cue.

The first one was the best photo of the evening. I could not believe it but the very first snap was almost perfect. Sadly thats how close to perfection I finally ended up.

The second and third photo came by after a handfull of snaps and totally exhausted me. This shoot was unlike the earlier shoot where almost every shot was useful. I need to get a bit more patience wrt photography… nice lesson for the day.

My “Babe” Sony Ericsson k750i is slowly becoming inadequate for my photographical needs. Its macro mode is slow for this sort of work and the flash not bright enuf… seriously considering purchasing a better cam.

How I did it:

1) Just take any plate or a flat bowl which can retain about 5 mm depth of water. Fill it almost full, leave a little space for the water that is introduced during the photography. Trust me if you take about 10 snaps you might have to remove water from the plate.

2) The environment is very important. Take a black shirt and keep it in the back ground. Any single color background is perfect.

3) Beg someone to spend some time with your hobby and to drop the water drops on request.

4) Set your digital camera to Burst/Multishot mode. It can be done without it but it would mean a lot more work :).

5) My cam required me to click before the drop was released to capture the drop perfectly. Do a couple of test shots and you will get the hang of it :D.

Hope you liked it…. Feel free to comment and leave suggestions… I am open to new ideas.
