Timing…

Me: Do you believe in fate and destiny?
Her: Why that question… now?
Me: Well… Its has a lot of significance with most of my life but off late its been the question that keeps revisiting me… So tell me, do you believe in fate or destiny?
Her: Arent they the same thing?
Me: Pardon me
Her: Fate and destiny, aren’t they synonymous?

Me: Well thats what most ppl think. I think its two versions of the same thing. Fate is mostly used with unfortunate things that have and will happen. Destiny is more a positive spin on things.
Her: Like you are destined for good things. And if bad things happen its your fate…
Me: Yep thats about right.
Her: Well, I don’t believe in either. I clearly make my own destiny.
Me: What makes you so sure?
Her: Wait and watch (smiles) Dont tell me you believe in fate?
Me: Well I don’t… (I smile) but I believe in destiny.
Her: Ok I am confused…
Me: I have a simple philosophy with regard to things that are in the past. There is nothing I can do about them so I dont worry about it. If its a mistake I see how I could learn from it. Sometimes its out of your hands… then I just tell myself that the timing wasnt right.
Her: What about the future?
Me: Future… well I believe nothing is impossible for me. So if I am working at something I believe its my destiny to do it. That no matter how hard it is, I am meant to do it. That makes surprisingly difficult things very easy.
Her: Wow, that is crazy enough to work…
Me: Its actually a lot more complicated but hey if it fails I just tell myself… “the timing wasn’t right” ;)
Her: So tell me, were we destined to have this conversation?
Me: It doesn’t directly work like that I guess… but then again when good things happen its more romantic to assume that they were destined to happen…
Her: Oh… I am just telling myself “the timing wasn’t right”
Me: (bows head) Touché
