Continuing with my Panoramic Travelogues of Ladakh. Here is the beautiful Diskit Monastery, perched alongside the breathtaking Nubra Valley.
Diskit Monastery also known as Deskit Gompa or Diskit Gompa is the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh. It belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
On of the highlights of the Monastery is the 32 meter statue of Maitreya Buddha near facing down the Shyok River. Watching the enormous statue with the backdrop of the beautiful mountains and clear skies is truly a sight to behold.
