Trip To SE Asia – Kuala Lumpur

Day Six of my fourteen day vacation to South East Asia found us in the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur. On the agenda of the day was visiting popular tourist spots, drive through the city and walking on the sky bridge of the worlds tallest twin towers.

This was the first time I was in a metropolis filled with skyscrapers and this meant that I spent most of the day looking at the beautiful buildings in absolute awe.

With the Chinese New year the very next day, there was red everywhere. Our hotel too had done its bit to set in the festive mood.

Our first stop was a beautiful Chinese temple. I have been always a big fan of Chinese architecture and art. I guess if your first interaction with the country and its people were through Kung Fu movies, you too would think of everything they do as cool.

As we headed out, we were escorted towards the rear entrance of the temple. As we walked out we saw a beautiful garden.

When we reached the end of the garden, I heard shouts of oohs and aahs. The sight that greeted us next is something i wont forget in a hurry.

This was my closest encounter with a turtle ever and I absolutely loved it.
Next we headed to the residence of the King of Malaysia. The place was crowded with people taking pictures of the horsemen and the guards.

. The building was surrounded with lush green gardens, seemed like a very nice place to stay :)

Tugu Negara, literally the “National Monument” in Malay was the next stop for us. This picturesque landmark was beautiful and serene. The monument was made to pay homage to all the soldiers that fought for the freedom of Malaysia.

After that we stopped by at a few historic spots. Oddly the only parts of KL I had heard of before this were the Petronas towers and Formula One track…

The next stop was the most awaited for me. One of the reasons I was really driven to be a part of this trip was the prospect of seeing the Petronas Towers. There is something so spectacular about the towers that I always wanted to stand in front of them. Well this was my day :)

The last stop was going to be the towers themselves. We we going to walk the sky bridge that joined the two towers. This is the highest I would have ever been inside any man made building :P

The elevator ride was super quick and in a few moments we were on the sky bridge. The view from the bridge is simply breathtaking!

The only regret of the evening was that I did not get to see the KL Tower up close. Ah well, maybe next time :)
