As I took out my bike in the morning today, I realized something was amiss. Well one of the tyres was flat. I pushed my bike to the mechanic’s shop each step of the way thanking my stars that my bike was one of those light weight ones.
I initially expected a short 2 min tube check and repair, boy was I in for a surprise. It turns out there were two nails embedded on the tyre. One had caused the blowout but the other was a innocent bystander my wheel had picked up.
The mechanic frantically working declared that the time had come for my tyre’s retirement. Well, i could not remember when i bought the tyre. My bike is 10 years old and that tyre by that number must have been atleast a couple of years old. After looking at the hopeless piece of rubber in front of me, I gave the signal to pull the plug.
It took about 15 min and after that the wheel was as good as new… wait a sec it is new :p. Anyway the grip levels vary between the two tyres but is much better than earlier. I remember changing my rear tyre about an year ago. It feel different and good. The level of traction is much better so Im enjoying the new pair of “legs” I hv got.
