Om Shanti Om – Movie Review

[rating:4]

Om Shanti Om is a entertainment packed semi spoof of Karz and Bollywood. The movie is rib tickling in the first half. So much that you some sequences are pure gems! The drama in the first half is so well paced and fits in so well that you hardly feel a change in tempo as the movie flows.

The second half is where they seemed to have lost control. The plot is very exciting but it seems to get dragged a bit in the second half. The second half has very little comedy and a bit more songs adding to the stretch!

The acting is brilliant. Shah Rukh is as perfect as he gets, his overacting in 70’s style is just too funny and even the moments of emotion that creeps up to you within the comedy are just heart warming. The ‘extras’ sequences are really funny… I cant still stop laughing when I think about the ‘naughty pussy’ dialog and him imitating a western tamil hero(watch the movie for it)

Deepika Padukone is absolutely perfect! She is so stunning gorgeous that the song “Ajab Si” does her total justice… To top it off her acting skills are top notch. Her screen presence in the first half is so powerful that at times she overshadows the King Khan!

Farah Khan’s direction, sets and choreography are simply beautiful. Some sequences are simply awe inspiring… The sad song “Jag Soona Soona Lage” is simply majestically shot!

My opinion:
The top two reasons to watch this movie is definitely the comedy and Deepika! Not the best movie ever but a fun movie… Totally worth a watch.
