Had been to a close friend’s wedding yesterday. The talking point was not just the wedding but how soon it happened… One Week! That was from the time she met the guy(give or take a day) to yesterday.
It got me wondering… How many of you would have done that??? An arranged marriage, a week after you have met each other! Among my friends it was clearly unanimous only one person said yes! Interestingly it was a girl :)
Before I go into my opinion about it, I want to talk about another close friend of mine. He got married 24 hrs after he met the girl!!! They have been happily married for 30 odd years now!!!
There was an episode of Seinfeld where George tells Jerry that the life of a relationship can be measured by the ridiculousness of the first meeting(or how they got together). The more crazy the story of the meeting the longer the possibility the couple will stay together.
This worked great for my buddy… he even agreed with it when I told him about it :)
I think George got it pretty right. Maybe its got to do with the trust thats developed coz of the incident that brings you together or simply the drive to make the relationship work out of a unusual situation, it helps in the long run.
I personally would do it. I find it highly romantic to do something like that. You of course are taking a huge risk but I truly believe that only when you take on the high odds, you can win big.
Plus it would be a great story to tell your grand children :P
