As the Columbian national Anthem marked the end of the 2005 Italian Grad Prix… It was a German who knew his reign as the World Champ had come to an end.
Michael Schumacher officially stepped down as the World Champ. Mathematically either Fernado or Kimi can be the champ this year. Its a pity it had to happen at the scarlet car’s home Grand Prix. Atleast the Italians could cheer as Giancarlo made it to the bottom step of the podium at his home GP.
This statement by the 2004 champ says it all : Schumacher hails Alonso as champ
The day totally belonged to Juan Pablo Montoya though… He led from start to finish and despite problems with the car he managed the chequered flag. Kimi was not that lucky as tyre problems forced him to make a pitstop. The extra pitstop costed him possibly 2nd or even a victory.
The Renaults marked the second time this season that the blue and yellow cars decorated the podium. Alonso took second in excellent form and threatened Montoya till the finish.
The Silver cars just managed to shave 1 point from the Construcor chamionship leaders. The Spaniard extended the lead to 27 points in the Driver’s championship.
Next weekend its going to be Spa and the Belgium GP. Alonso just requires 4 points more than Kimi to become the youngest ever World Champ.
As for Schumacher the 7 time world champ according to rumors has one more season with Ferrari untill Kimi replaces him for 2007.
Lot of ppl hv been speculating on who will be the next Schumacher… who will succeed Michael… well, answers are at offer at Spa…
