Dhoom 2 & The Departed – Movie Reviews

Dhoom 2 ([rating:4]): Dhoom 2 is simply Coolness and Sexiness personified… What is cool? Hrithik Roshan! What is Sexy? Ash! But more than that what is great about this movie is simply that it delivers. The movie is simply pure entertainment… Let it be the music or the dance or comedy or bikes(& cars & roller blades) everything was much better than an average movie. This movie totally belongs to Hrithik and Ash… Between them Hrithik takes the major share and rightly so… Right from the first frame of the film to the last one this movie is Hrithik’s. Coming to think of it John Abraham in Dhoom(the original) was nothing compared to Hrithik in this one. Abhishek is left to do a supporting role in this movie, I think Uday Chopra had a better role and more screen time than Abhi in this one. Bipasha Basu was simply excess baggage in the movie. Her only use was probably to keep Uday distracted thru the movie.

Why should you watch this movie?
Hrithik… If you his fan dont miss this movie!
Ash… I have seen many of Ash’s movies and never felt that she was very attractive(except in Shabdh… maybe it was the nose ring :P ) But damn does she look good in this one :P

The Departed ([rating:5]): Two Words- Oscar Worthy :) This movie is simply brilliant… I was surprised by the amount of profanity in the movie, the mentions of f$%^ and references to sex happen almost with every single dialouge. The smart cracks are hillarious(sadly hardly anyone in the theater were even understanding the quick ones :( )… A lot of heart was put into this movie and it shows right on the screen.

Acting… you cant get it wrong with Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen but what is brilliant was how well each of these powerhouses of talent was used to make perfect synchronization. All credit goes to Martin Scorsese and the screenplay writers, great works guys.

The ending of the movie was according to many was too fast and it clearly left a bad taste in the mouth as they walked out of the cinemas… For me the ending was very good, very different but very good too. What I liked was the concept of absolute closure which was given at the end. All in all this is one of the best movies of the year :)
