(*: least, *****: highest)
Your mission, if you choose of accept it, is to watch this movie and not be thrilled.
Its not mission difficult my dear friends its mission “nearly” impossible.
(sorry I just had to do that :P )
Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is back and the past few years he has been walking away from what he does best. He is no longer a field man and is into training new IMF recruits. His social life has picked up and he his now engaged to be married to Julia Meade (Michelle Monaghan).
On the night of his engagement party he is given a mission to rescue one of the trainees whome he had trained. Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is the ‘bad guy’ in the flick who has captured the IMF agent. (Dont worry, Im not telling more of the story… :) )
Like sequels go, they have tried to get the best of the previous movies and make a better movie, well they didnt do a bad job. Its got the right ingredients of the breaking into high security places (try the vatican for one :P ), some really explosive action and a decent collection of one liners.
I felt the first half was the best as the second has mostly Tom going bang bang and not to mention the emotional stuff. There is a let down as they dont show the last of the missions where he has to break into a high security chinese lab… all you see is him entering and then a while later he radios in saying he has got the item(which he was meant to steal). What happens in between will is not shown :(
The best part of the movie is the thrill… as the movie smoothly flows through we are almost always close to the edge of the seat. Mr. Hoffman is brilliant and very convincing as the “really” bad guy… Tom looks old and has the mature charm instead of his boyish feel which might be what the female audience love. Among all the missions(in this movie) I felt the one in the Vatican is clearly the best.
This movie is definitely worth the money. Go ahead sit back and enjoy the ride :)
