During my last sem in college, my pals and I were regular at IIA(Indian Institute of AstroPhysics). There we would discuss our project with our guide Dr. Jayant Murthy. We would spend the first few mins on the project and then discuss topics of our intrest(which most often was science and physics related)…
One such day… we were discussing the moon landing and The Prof spoke about Niel Armstrong and Heroes…
The talk actually started up on the moon landing. We were questioning its validity as we had learnt a few facts about it a few days ago. The topic of NASA came about and he explained to us that most Astronomers from NASA were instructed(instructed is too heavy a word, plz excuse ) to behave like Heroes…
He then gave me an example of a comic book hero like say Superman… ie, say less and do more. He continued to say that the first man to land on the moon… and almost nobody knows where he is today. Niel is somewhere in Chicago i guess(not sure). But with credentials like that he could be a movie star at the least :).
Well NASA has moved on and now give a fair amount of publicity for their events, which they deserve. Next time u see a NASA shuttle think bout this :) .
