World Championship leader Fernando Alonso took pole for the 2005 Brazillian Grand Prix clocking the quickest time of 1m 11.988s. He will be joined by Juan Pablo Montoya who was 0.157s slower. Teammate Fisichella lines up behind the Spaniard, Kimi Raikonnen managed a 5th place start behind Jenson Button after a first corner mistake cost him about 0.5s.
For Fernado to become the youngest champion in F1 history, all he has to do is finish withing 5 points of the Finn. With the current strarting line up it seems its a safe bet to assume we will have our world champion before Japan.
As for my predictions about the race… I expect 2 Renaults in the top 3… simply because of their Friday free practice performance. Kimi will prob finish well within the top 4… I am a little concerned about the Finn’s tyres after smoking it in the first corner. The aero and engine upgrades seems to have worked as the Renaults were either faster or within 0.1s of the Mc Laren for most of the weekend
