Christmas has never been a very special time for me. It would usually involve a nice day off(in the end of December that meant sleeping longer), cakes and watching tv to decorations across the world.
This time around it was different… I worked all day, came home late and crashed on my bed almost immediately.
So what is with the subject of this post? Well my real Christmas happened on the 27th… A few weeks back a bunch of my friends decided to play Secret Santa… We met up on the 27th and had a little party and the unveiling of the gifts… The whole experience was just fabulous and I totally loved the gifts my secret santa got me
To add to the chrismassy spirit, my close friend from the US pinged me today and during the conversation told me about his christmas gift to me(which I should be seeing in a few days)! Which again had me pleasantly surprised
Thanks a ton guys for the fun party… Angel of course for organizing the ‘event’… I know how much you had to struggle to synchronize it Thank you Madhu for the gifts, Like I told you when i opened your gifts… You made my year, my dear Hem thanks again for being so nice

Its the end of the year yet again but for me it hardly feels like the end of something. No I am not being philosophical(as usual)… Blame that feeling to the position of my birthday in the calender.
My birthday falls almost the exact middle of the year(actually its like 2 days before the exact center of the year), what this means is that when ever my birthday arrives half the calender year is gone by and whenever the new year comes I will have become half a year older
The biggest advantage of this for me is that it helps me check on my resolutions(like most people I make some for the new year and some on my b’day) I have had a pretty decent conversion rate wrt resolutions(except the one to gain more weight ) and I think this great co-incidental positioning of my b’day has got a great deal to do with it It serves as a nice deadline reminder and lets me refocus on doing thing I wnt done.
Anyway 2008 is almost upon us… I am planning to do a few end of the year posts… lets see how that pans out

A while back me and a friend of mine were having a conversation of about what kindof stories people remember. We shot off on many tangents and one was a very interesting one… We reached fantasy stories and I said that fantasy never really excited me. He on the other hand said that fantasy was his favorite genre. I told him that I felt that fairy tales were hard to relate to… he went ahead and corrected my misconception.
As he pointed out, possibly the most relate able to story to anyone is that of Cinderella. It has a bigger impact than say Snow white, Rapunzel, Beauty and the beast ect. That got me thinking, this story does have a very human factor to it compared to say other fantasy stories. We began to wonder why that was the case…
Was it because that in a general level we are all hoping for a better future where it ends with a nice “lived happily ever after”, or maybe we feel that we need some sort of positive magic in our lives to turn it more beautiful? We could not reach anywhere with the discussion and thats when i thought I could bring it up here
Wonder what it is that makes something relate able to us…

Mom and Dad have always been no-pet people. Suggestion of a pet dog would drive them to an argument of about how its so much additional responsibility and something that is not worth the effort. This has been the case for so long that I feel happy enough petting and playing with dogs wherever I find them
Oh in case you did not know or haven’t figured it out yet… I am a dog person
The past few days have been extremely cold in Bangalore, temp has dropped to the lowest in decades and well things are getting a bit chilly… We have this huge basement where we and our tenants park their cars… more often than not someone is either parking a vehicle in there or removing one, so the gates are normally just left open.
A couple of days ago a dog decided to get into the basement, the dog was not violent and hardly even barked. It kept going in and out so we thought it was trying to hide from other dogs. Only a day later we realized that the dog was a mom and was keeping her hurt pup inside!
