Haircut for a kid…
March 24, 2007 5:56 pmI had been today to the barber and next to me sat this sweet boy maybe 5-6 yrs old who had come in with his dad. The boy was sitting on the usual wooden plank and was up to his antics as the barber cut his hair. This reminded me of the time when I was a kid and I simply hated going to the barber…
I know what you are thinking what this dude wanted to grow a long mane back then too?… Well no, it was just that the entire process took like 45 min to an hour and that to a kid was too much to ask for. It would also happen only on sunday mornings… well who wants to spend a sunday in a barber shop
Ironically I cant remember from when I stopped disliking the whole process…
Anyway a few mins into the cut the barber started threatening the kid saying he will get cut if he moves around too much ![]()

Recently Listened Tracks
I have been giving Last.fm a nice run for a while now. The site gathers statistics of the songs, artists, albums and the like. The site doubles up as a music based social networking service… Frankly after Orkut this is the only social networking site that has managed to actually get me interested. The stats are brilliant and things like ’similar artists’, ‘neighborhood’ (people around you who listen to the same music) and ‘recommended tracks’ (based on your playlists) just keep you hooked(for a while atleast).

And Then There Was Silence…
March 11, 2007 9:29 pmThere is an amazing high that comes when you are on stage… A ‘Performance’ is so unique and beautiful that I am at a loss of words to explain how it feels… Over time you get tuned to the audience and expect them to behave in a particular way, there is the good response(laughter in comedy and being emotionally engrossed in drama) and of course the bad way(lets just say not the good way)… My experience yesterday was quiet different…
In acting class we regularly get to make short performances concentrating on subject of the class, Yesterday was one such day… I don’t want to go into the technical details about what the class was about but we had to do a short monologue of any emotionally heavy experience we had… Now interestingly we were asked not to act… To make it like you were speaking to a friend…
After a few mins of preparation we were asked to perform… My turn came towards the endof the class and people had given a varied bunch of personal accounts till then, everything from comedy to romance to horror to loss to nostalgia… We were asked to interrupt in case of any mistakes based on the things we were told to check in the class. There were regular interruptions for everyone who went on stage. I decided to talk about the squirrel I cannot quiet seem to forget.
I don’t know if it was the way I spoke or my tone, it was like time froze for those few minutes… The audience did not move a muscle, I was on my own emotional high and just spoke… When it was done I realized, nobody had interrupted me… That wasn’t by far the best performance of the day… that honor went to a class mate of mine(wont go into the details as it was a very personal account)… It had gone to the extent of forcing out tears in the eyes of the audience while he stood in front of everyone as calm as possible.
Its hard to explain how it feels to be received well, all I can say is that those few min on stage totally made every pain and dedication for almost 6 months worth while ![]()

WALL·E (2008)

One of Pixars finest movies. The lack of dialogue and the serenity simply adds to the beauty of the movie. Truly a classic.

Lakshya (2004)
5/5
I feel this is the best of Farhan Akhtar's three movies. When I first watched it years ago it moved and inspired me. The second time around the feeling was much stronger. There are so many parallels to the story line that makes you introspect and look within your self, that is the beauty of the movie.

A very well written psychological thriller. The acting is good and the characters well etched out, but still the movie feels like its missing something. If you like smart thrillers, you have to watch this one.

A very beautifully done inspiration of Momento. The story is fresh and handled pretty well. Acting is very good and the movie is paced very well. On of the best 'different' south indian movies I have ever watched.

The classic that inspired so many movies. Acting, Screenplay, Music & Direction all top class. Easy to see why so many consider it to be the greatest movie ever made. Very impressive

Who Killed the Electric Car? (2006)

Well made documentary that covers the life story of GM's EV1. Similar to "An Inconvenient truth" in ways but gives a very good perspective of technologies that are easily forgotten.

There is just too much to take home with you after the movie and its that ability of the movie that truly won hearts. There is so much magic in the subtlety of this movie and its profound thoughts that it just takes your breath away. If you haven't already watched this movie... Please do.

Dasavatharam (2008)
4.5/5
Everything from the script to the acting to the special effects to the background score was awesome. The story is the strong point of the movie, the characters(10 roles) were well thought out, their mutual interaction was written so well into the script and so well executed that at times you wonder if its possible that it was the same actor. Brilliant movie totally worth a watch.

Hancock (2008)
3/5
Awesome first hour of the movie, but sadly the last 30 min takes away all the good work. The ending is boring and pretty hard to sit though. They should have avoided the back story angle altogether. Watch it for the first half.

Very impressive story telling technique, good story, brilliant twists and turns but the movie failed at one part. There were far too many characters introduced and not all got a closure by the end. Good movie definitely worth a watch

This movie at different moments had me shocked, disturbed, enraged, appauled, smiling, impressed and enlightened… It is simply one the best (english) movies to have come out of the subcontinent. I would rate it even higher than “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi”. Everything is close to perfect, the acting, the writing, the background score, the screenplay and the music… Oh God! The music is beyond brilliant!!!!

Jannat (2008)
4/5
Mahesh Bhatt does it again, another movie that is totally different and great writing. I was very impressed with Aawarapan but writing wise Jannat takes the cake. The story and the acting is good, the songs are great. What is amazing is the flow of dialogs which is almost perfect. The only disappointing part is that when it matters the most the dialog gave way... But still way better than what bollywood dishes out lately. A must watch

Brilliant writing, brilliant acting! One of the best movies of 07, Juno rightfully bagged the screenplay oscar. The beauty is in the characters and how their relationships develop and breakaway around this young girl. Totally worth a watch!

Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978)

Another good movie of the Pink Panther series. Loads of slapstick but Peter Sellers just steals away the honors at the end. Not the best of the series but a must watch if you are watching the whole series.

2008-05-14 14:32
Very disappointing movie, expected so much from the movie but it got most of the basics wrong. The dialog writing was pretty bad and spoilt the taste of this thoughtful romantic movie. The acting in the second half is much better and saves the movie. Kajol is brilliant and as perfect as perfect can be.

Breach (2007)
3.5/5
Movie is a bit slow but if you are into slow spy thrillers or movies that deal with the inner workings of government spy agencies, this is a good one. Acting wise nothing to complain... Chris Cooper portrayal of Robert Hanssen is very engaging.
