Media Frenzy…

ndtv

Times Now was launched today, another news channel now joins the parade of news channels that fill our tv sets. CNN IBN had started almost a month back, both news channels have one well know presenter from the NDTV network to market their channel.

This media frenzy worries me as now its clearly become a battle ground for who will bring the news first. This is good and bad at the same time. If you are wondering whats wrong with that… well that will soon mean that people will be encouraged to do crazy stuff coz they will make the 4 o clock news.

Crowd Puller…

Disney Chars

I had been to Garuda Mall on sunday after Narnia with friends. We had lunch and did a little shopping and a few min before we left we saw a crowd gathering in the center of the Mall. When we peeped there we realized that a Disney event was happening and everywhere I saw people gathering to get a glimpse of the fest. The number of people there amazed me totally… acutally the count had gone so high the escalators(see Picture Below) had to be stopped coz ppl wanted to stand on them and view the show.

Its nice to know the power of kids :)

The Wild and Back

GopalSwamy Betta View

You breathe every second of your life,
But the seconds that really count are the ones that take your breadth away…

That line makes so much more sense after a weekend like the last one….

Last weekend Team Applibase set out to spend a couple of days in Bandipur. Firstly special thanks to Anant… he got the booking done for us at Bandipur and without that we would have had a lot of probs wrt lodging(considering the Tiger Census and all).

The plan was simple… Go to Bandipur, enjoy Trekking and the Safari, Trek a mountain or two on the way back and be at Bangalore early monday morn. The execution was very different…

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – A Review

08-narnia-wallpaper-800x600-lion.jpg
Rating: ***
(Lowest: * Highest: *****)

Magic, beauty, love and majesticity thats Narnia .Nothing can beat a child’s imagination and Narnia and its magnificent residents come to life in this extavaganza of color and special effects. The movie clearly created with kids in mind leaves you in a dreamworld enclosed in a Wardrobe.

When four kids forced to live away from their parents due to war find a desolate Wardrobe in an isolated room on the top floor they enter into Narnia. What is Narnia? A parallel universe of sorts… Its full of snow and snow capped mountains but its cold beauty has a reason… its been cursed to a 100 year winter which will end soon…

The Worlds Best Doctor

So was at the hospital today to meet an ENT specialist recommended by my doctor. Firstly, I was not impressed by the amount of work you need to do to just see a doc at a hospital… all the form filling and waiting is just crazy and they even made me an ID card (wtf? I might never need to go there again)

Then the waiting (well its the same in all clinics too :( ). Atleast it was good that the office next door was to the pediatrician and cute kids were all over the place :). I finally got my turn and I was greeted into the office. I explained that I was referred to him by my doc. He was really happy and informed me that he was a student of my doc…

Now about the heading… This guy takes my X ray and blood reports and reads them, then he takes a good look into my nose (he is an ENT specialist remember) and says something like “Oh! Its only this much… you dont need to worry” Its not that he said it but how he said it, in such a calm voice that at that moment I believed I was cured. He then gives me a list of medications I need to take… again explaining clearly and writing at the same time.

One more amazing thing was his handwriting. Most docs have a handwriting worse than mine (that is bad trust me ) but this guy had the best handwriting I have ever seen a doc have. It was so good I hv actually shown a couple of people the prescription just to see their reaction :P.

Finally before leaving he actually gives me his card and tells me to call him in case of any probs with the medication and adds that I will probably never need to see him again :). Now thats what I wanted my docs to always tell me.
