Soulmates…

Me: Do you believe in Soulmates?
Her: Yeah… I think there are soulmates for everybody.
Me: So there is one soulmate for everyone in the world?
Her: Yeah, the problem I think is finding them. But what about soulmates.
Me: The concept of soulmates is good but what if soulmates dont occur in pairs.
Her: I don’t understand.
Me: Well, lets say A is the soulmate of B. But what is the guarantee that B will automatically be the soulmate of A
Her: I am confused. Isnt that the definition of soulmate.
Me: I think soulmate is defined one way. I think it was in Good Will Hunting where Sean tells Will and I quote – Someone you can relate to, someone who opens things up for you, someone who challenges you
Her: Yeah that sounds about right.
Me: My question is simple… lets say A is the soulmate of B is there a possibility B is the soulmate of C?
Her: I don’t see why not.
Me: Then the real question is: Would you rather be with your soulmate or be with the one whose soulmate you are?
Her: Wow I never wondered about that.
Me: Well start wondering…
Her: Hmmm I don’t know… I think it varies from person to person.
Me: Exactly… Actually I don’t need your answer. The answer is for you, I think it helps to understand your self better if you can honestly answer that question to yourself.
Her: How so? What if I choose one over the other?
Me: This is just like love. There are two types of love, one the adolescent one and the other the mature one. The latter being the everlasting type. The adolescent one is the type of love younger ppl encounter, it is more about getting than giving. Its a phase where everything that makes you feel great and happy is good. The other is…
Her: … is about giving. Finding happiness in the happiness of the one you love… (pondering)You are right, It does tell you a lot about yourself.
